Frequently Asked Questions

Whether you’re updating your LinkedIn profile, refreshing your company’s website, or investing in your personal brand, it’s natural to have a few questions before scheduling your session. Here are answers to some of the questions I hear most often from professionals throughout Clayton and the greater St. Louis area.

Planning Your Headshot Session

Not at all. Most clients tell me they’re uncomfortable in front of the camera before their session begins. My job is to coach you through natural poses, expressions, and small adjustments that help you look confident and approachable. You don’t need any modeling experience—I’ll guide you every step of the way.

Solid colors and well-fitting clothing generally photograph best, but the right wardrobe depends on your profession and how you’ll use your headshots. I recommend bringing two to five outfit options so we can create a variety of looks. For more detailed advice, check out my guide on What to Wear for Professional Headshots.

Get a good night’s sleep, drink plenty of water, and bring your selected outfits ready to wear. Clean your glasses, remove lint from your clothing, and arrive a few minutes early so you can relax before we begin. If you’d like a complete checklist, visit my How to Prepare for a Professional Headshot Session guide.

It’s completely optional, but many clients enjoy the confidence that professional hair and makeup can provide—especially for executive portraits, personal branding sessions, and speaking engagements. The goal is to help you look like yourself on your very best day.

Most individual headshot sessions take about an hour, depending on the number of outfits and final looks you’d like to create. Throughout the session, I’ll guide you through posing and expression so the experience feels relaxed and efficient.

Your Headshots After the Session

Yes. Every selected image receives natural professional retouching to remove temporary distractions such as blemishes, stray hairs, and minor clothing imperfections while keeping your skin texture and appearance looking authentic.

Absolutely. Your headshots are designed to be versatile and can be used across LinkedIn, company websites, marketing materials, business cards, speaker biographies, email signatures, and social media profiles.

A good rule of thumb is every two to three years, or whenever your appearance changes significantly, you receive a promotion, change careers, or want to refresh your professional brand.

My studio is conveniently located just outside Clayton, in St Peters, making it an easy drive for professionals throughout the St. Louis area. Many of my clients travel from Clayton, Ladue, Creve Coeur, Chesterfield, and surrounding communities for a relaxed, guided headshot experience.
